Zintuiglijke fijnzinnigheid
Stimu-less as a countertrend is increasingly expressed in product design
In today's technologically driven society, a clear countertrend has been visible for several years now; Stimu-less. People withdraw to look for peace and contemplation. Meditation apps and yoga schools came quicker than the light and magazines like Happinez and Flow became immensely popular.
Now, this counter-trend appears to be rooted in product design as well. Where previously auditory sensory cues were often very strong (think of the 'pop' of a Grolsch bottle (beer), the tapping of a plastic button, the hard clicking of a pen), we see a tendency in product design towards more soft materials with soft caps, matte finishes and use of soft, warm products. Also, product design becomes much more neutral, more natural and calmer. For example, the young brand Mudita recently launched a stimu-less phone; with as little sensory distraction as possible and without internet access. A special development in today's high-tech era!
Research
into Stimu-less trend fragrances
In line with this quiet trend, we conducted a mini-study at Senta. Our partners from SmartNose selected the trend scents of Sleep, Rest and Comfort:
- Sleep: A light scent of clean sheets in combination with fresh wild flowers;
- Comfort; a real feel-good scent with elements of freshly baked cookies;
- Rest: A fresh natural scent with a hint of eucalyptus.
What turned out? The smell of Sleep was best appreciated!
